Are you a consumer who thinks that any of the non natural cleaning products sold must be safe?
It's time to think again. In the last fifty years, tens of thousands of synthetic chemicals have been invented. Many of these have been created from petroleum and coal tar for the purposes of chemical warfare. What's so sad is that hardly any of these substances have been tested for safety. Instead, they have been added to our food, water and everyday products like non natural cleaning products without our consent. And they've been added without informing us of any dangers. There is a lot of intentional suppression in this industry that adds approximately 1,000 new chemicals each year. According to the National Research Council, "no toxic information is available for more than 80% of the chemicals in everyday use products. Less than 1 in 5 have been tested for acute effects and less than 1 in 10 have been tested for chronic, reproductive or mutagenic effects." Most have not been tested for long-term effects nor for combined effects nor for their effects on unborn children.
How do you protect yourself and those you love from injury and poisoning from non natural cleaning products?
First, learn as much as you can. And use safer natural cleaning products as much as possible - many are now available and they are priced competitively and are truly cheap natural cleaning products.
Secondly, minimize the use of non-natural cleaning product chemicals. When you have spills, clean them immediately and remove food waste promptly. Try to keep the moisture and humidity in your home or apartment down to 30-50%. Using doormats at all entrances to your residence allows you to clean your shoe bottoms somewhat before entering. The Japanese tradition of removing footwear before entering the home is related to having a cleaner home environment.
Third, store all non natural cleaning products in their original containers out of the reach of children. Read and follow the directions on the label, and use no more of the product than is recommended.
Read the labels, follow safety precautions and contact the manufacturer if you have questions. Our homes are cleaned to be more healthy and enjoyable to live in. The solution should not be worse than the problem! Using natural cleaning products has major health benefits...do not expose yourself and your family to the health hazards that come with the commercial non natural cleaning products.
